Summer Reading Information

All students enrolled in an English course, with the exception of dual-enrollment students, are required to complete summer reading. For the 2018-2019 school year, each grade level has assigned at least one text to all students. Students enrolled in English II Honors, English III Honors, A.P. Language, and A.P. Literature are required to read two texts over the summer. The texts will be used in class instruction.

THS is throwing a Summer Reading Celebration to reward students who complete the reading over the summer. An assessment will be given to all students, those scheduled for English in the fall and spring semester, at the start of school in August to determine attendance eligibility.

There are a limited amount of these books to check out from the THS Library.  There will also be summer library hours.  They are Tuesdays & Thursdays, 12:00-4:00, beginning May 31 and ending July 24.  The library will be closed the entire week of July 4th.

Freshmen Orientation Rally

May 14, 2018

Dear Class of 2022 Student and Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

The Tennessee High School Freshman Leadership Team would like to invite members of the class of 2022 to the Freshman Orientation Rally. The first year of high school is widely believed to be a pivotal moment for all students, and our goal is to provide incoming Vikings opportunities to achieve lasting success as a Mighty Viking.

Students attending the half-day session will tour the school, locate their classrooms, and compete in the first ever Castle Games Tournament. Homerooms will face-off to determine which one gets the honor of carrying the Spirit Hammer into the first Pep Rally. There will be games and activities of all types, so students should dress appropriately.

Attending the orientation rally will ease the transition from middle school to high school as well as lessen the anxieties students may experience. Welcome to our Viking Family, Class of 2022! Transportation is not provided so please make arrangements for your child.

Please mark your calendars for July 30th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM! We are not serving lunch, but students will have the option of purchasing shaved ice treats from Kona Ice. Any changes in schedule will be posted on the THS website. Please drop students off at the entrance to the auditorium.

We look forward to seeing you in July!

Thank you,

Tennessee High School Freshman Leadership Team
