Band Wins Big at Enka!
Congratulations go out to the Mighty Viking Band for their performance and placement at their first band competition of the year - the Enka High School "Land of Sky" Marching Band Festival in Candler, North Carolina.

Dollar General Literacy Foundation
Library Receives DG Literacy Grant
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation recently awarded Tennessee High School a $1500 grant to support youth literacy. This grant is part of more than $3.4 million the organization awarded to 915 recipients on August 28, 2018.

Daily Announcements

  • TSA will meet at 2:30 today, October, 17th, in Ms. Givney’s room. You must attend this meeting if you plan to go to Regionals. If you forgot to turn in your application, please bring it with you to this meeting.
  • Immediate academic help for all students, especially those scheduled for the October 27 & December 9 National Saturday ACT: Free ACT Boot Camp

    Monday - Thursday, October 22-25, 6:00 - 8:00 PM

    Bring your friends!  Bring your dinner!  Bring your calculator & pencil.

  • The Learning Lab will be closed 1st through 3rd periods on Tuesday, October 16, Wednesday, October 17, and Thursday, October 18 for ACT testing.
  • Club photos and Junior Court photos will be taken on October 25.
  • The practice SAT, the PSAT, will be given at THS on Wednesday, October 24th during first and second period in the wellness rooms. Any junior interested in taking this college entrance exam please bring $16.00 into the counseling office as soon as possible. The PSAT is the qualifying test that students must take in their junior year to enter the National Merit Scholarship Competitions for college scholarships that will be awarded in 2019. Although the test is aimed at students in the 11th grade, sophomores are encouraged to take it as practice for their junior year. To register please bring cash or a check made out to Tennessee High School into the counseling office as soon as possible. Spaces are limited please don’t hesitate to sign up.
  • WELCOME.  Please come to Wellness room 2447 every Wednesday morning from 7:00 – 7:15 a.m. for an encouraging club meeting:  First Priority.  All are WELCOME!  Yes, that’s you.  (We often serve food, too.)
  • The LEAPs after-school program is now open for students!  Hours of operation are from 2:30 PM-5:30 PM daily.  Students should report to the Wellness room (#2447) and report to Mr. Andrew Cross.  THS will offer several after-school activities/clubs that are available to students through the LEAPs grant.  Starting dates and further information for those actives and clubs will be given at a later date.  If interested in joining in after-school activity or club, please contact with Mr. Andrew Cross for further details.
  • ACT ACADEMY by Mrs. Sutherland  will be on WONDERFUL Wednesdays in the THS Library after school from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. We will PRACTICE ACT questions and discuss all things ACT.  (It used to be on Thursdays, but it’s now Wednesdays to permit percussion and THS band to come….so show up!).

  • Students may still order photos online using the code AA508009Y0.
  • It is that time of year again for the Queen of Hearts Campaign.  There will be brochures and applications available in Mrs. Whitaker’s office and the Main Office.  The applications are due back by October 18th

  • Tennessee High Wrestling Season begins October 29th.  All wrestlers must have a Sports Physical and Health Data Form completed before they can practice.  Forms can be picked up at the Athletic’s Office in Viking Hall from Patty Feathers.  Girls and Boys interested in wrestling can contact Coach Marshall (423) 340-1900, tmarshall7@btes.tv, or on campus Coach Goodman in room 1140, goodmanb@btcs.org.

  • The dates for the flu clinic for students will be announced as soon as the Sullivan County Health Dept gives us the date. 
  • If a student wants medication for anything, they must have a student health form on file in the clinic before the nurse is legally able to give medication.   

  • Students & Parents: Please register your Food City ValuCard to THS.  For every dollar spent at Food City* using your ValuCard, one point will be earned for your school. The more points earned, the larger share of the cash your school will receive.
