SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION

Heisman Scholarship

Who: Seniors
Where: Any 2 or 4 year college or university
Amount:
Varies
Deadline: October 29th at 6pm EST

Additional Information: Students who wish to apply for this scholarship must have at least a 3.0 GPA and must participate in at least one high school sport recognized by the International Olympic Committee or the National Federation of State High School Associations. Students should have a substantial amount of community service hours in order to be considered. The application can be found online at heismanscholarship.com.

 

Jeff Byrd Exceeding Expectations Scholarship

Who: Seniors

Where: Any 4 year college or university

Amount: $1000

Deadline: April 1st, 2020

Additional Information: Students who wish to apply for this scholarship should have at least a 2.5 GPA. The application requires two letters of recommendation (1 from a teacher and another from a community member) and an essay. Applications can be picked up from the Scholarship Board in the Counseling Office


QuestBridge Scholarship

Who: Seniors

Where: Several top colleges in the nation (i.e., Harvard, Yale, Brown, Stanford, Notre Dame and several others)

Amount: Full four-year tuition

Deadline: September 28th, 2019

Additional Information: Students who apply should be academically qualified (ACT - 28+ or SAT - 1310+) and financially qualified (ex: Making $65,000 or less for a family of four with minimal assets). Applications can be completed online at https://apply.questbridge.org/apply/

 

Tennessee Concrete Association

Who: Seniors

Where: Any 2 or 4 year college or university

Amount: Varies ($50 - $250)

Deadline: January 24th, 2020

Additional Information: Applications can be picked up on the Scholarship Board in the Counseling Office or online at www.tnconcrete.org  Essays must be typed and either submitted online or mailed to the address below by the deadline:

John M. Belk Scholarship

Who: Seniors

Where: Davidson

Amount: Full Tuition (valued at $67,794) with the opportunity to travel abroad

Deadline: October 21st, 2019

Additional Information: Applications can be picked up on the Scholarship Board in the Counseling Office. Complete applications must be turned into Mrs. Slagle by the deadline above.

 

American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program

Who: Seniors

Where: Any 2 or 4 year college or university

Most Valuable Student Award (Elks)

Who: Seniors

Virginia Military Institute Scholarship Program

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ETSU will be here on September 17th to help with applications (ETSU's application will be free from 17th-20th with code from your counselor). Schedule TBD, be on the lookout for an announcement.

 

Erika Adams will be here to present to all senior homerooms in the auditorium about college, FAFSA, etc on Wednesday September 18th. Teachers will take attendance then take their homeroom to the auditorium. Teacher will need to stay with homerooms. 

 

College App Week: September 23rd to 37th (dress-up days TBD)

Northeast State will be here to help with application on Monday September 23rd. Schedule TBD

We will be coming to homerooms on Tuesday September 24th to help students apply for TN Promise

Another Senior presentation in auditorium on Wednesday September 25th. Teachers will take attendance and then take their homeroom to the auditorium. Teachers will receive ACT training during this time. 

Thursday September 26th-ACT Pre-Code in homeroom.

TN Promise meeting for all seniors on Wednesday October 2nd at 1:30 PM. An announcement will be made for seniors to report to the auditorium for this meeting.

FAFSA Frenzy/Senior Parent Night on Thursday October 17th at 6:30 PM in auditorium. Erika Adams will be here for a short presentation and to help parents/students to complete the FAFSA.

2019-2020 FAFSA opens for completion at www.fafsa.gov

November 2, 2018- Class of 2019 applicants can begin volunteering the required 8 community service hours.
February 1, 2019- TN Promise FAFSA completion deadline. Students can begin completing the 2019-2020 FAFSA October 1, 2018 at 
www.fafsa.gov. The 2019-2020 FAFSA will be based on 2017 tax information.
