This is a photo of the winners of the Eastman Oratorical Contest. They are holding large checks that represent their winnings.

Congratulations to Zera Pritchard for placing FIRST in the Eastman Black History Month Oratorical Contest! Zera spoke about the accomplishments of Louis Purnell as part of the Tuskegee Airmen and as a noted curator, and she was awarded $1500 for her amazing speech!

Junior Victoria Harman placed third and was awarded $750! She spoke about Dr. Daniel Hale Williams, who performed the first successful open-heart surgery and founded Provident Hospital in 1891.

Additionally, senior Raegan Cuddy and junior Sam Hankins, placed 4th and 5th and received $500 and $250 respectively. They spoke on the importance of Dr. Jane C. Wright and Lonnie Johnson.
