The application for TN Governor's School is now open!! Governor's School is a month-long summer enrichment program that takes place on various college campuses across the state. Participants earn college credit, participate in field experiences and experiments, meet influential contributors in their associated fields, and engage in a variety of activities specific to each program! There are 10+ different programs that students can choose from ranging from Agriculture, Fine Arts, Business, Physics, Engineering, Humanities, Teaching and International Studies! Students who are currently in the 10th or 11th grade with a GPA of 3.0+ and an interest in one of the areas of content are encouraged to apply! The deadline is December 6th! See Mrs. Slagle in the Counseling Office for more information. There will also be an information session during homeroom on November 18th in the auditorium.
Students who missed the Beta Induction Ceremony can pick up their Beta certificates and shirts in the library.
Student Council will sponsor a Holiday Homecoming Dance on Saturday, December 14 from 7-10 pm in Viking Hall. Along with dancing, there will be lots of other fun activities. Admission is $5 or a new, unwrapped toy valued at $5. Dress is Holiday Happy, so wear your best PJs, festive attire, or Ugliest Christmas sweater. Concessions will be available. The dance is only for THS students, so please be prepared to show your badge for entry.
Beginning Wednesday, November 6, Student Council will be collecting money during first period for our annual Thanksgiving basket drive. Students may donate money to support local families that need extra help preparing for the holidays.
The last day of the drive will be Thursday, November 14th.
Donuts will be provided to the top three first period classes who have the most money donations.
To kick off donations for Thanksgiving Baskets we will be having dress up days that will take place November 6th through November 8th.
Wednesday: Thankful for my friends-Please dress like your bestie or a just like your group of buddies.
Thursday: Thankful for our veterans and Military Families-Please dress in red, white, and blue or Americana.
Friday: Thankful for our teachers and staff. Please dress like your favorite teacher or staff member.
In celebration of Veterans Day, Tennessee High School JROTC would like to invite you to honor your friends and family that have served in the United States Military. Thursday, November 7, we will have a Veteran's Day program during Viking Time. JROTC would like to incorporate your family and friends' names and celebrate their accomplishments in the program. To bring awareness to the issue of Suicide Prevention, student council is asking all students to wear teal and purple this Friday, 11/1/24.
The THS STEM Club will be meeting Wednesday in Mrs. Bittinger's classroom, room 3406. The meeting will be held during Viking Time.
Student Council will meet in the auditorium during Viking Time on Wednesday, October 30.
There will be a Beta Club meeting in the library on Wednesday, November 6 during Viking Time. All new and returning members are expected to attend. The meeting will not last all of homeroom.

There will be a junior parent night on November 7th at 5:30 in the auditorium. This is an informational meeting to discuss, college and career planning, college applications, financial aid, senior year opportunities, etc.
Anchor vs Civinettes powderpuff game will be on Tuesday night in the Stone Castle at 6:30pm. Tickets cost is $5 and the money raised will benefit the Johnna Berry Toy Drive. The theme for the game is space and aliens.
For anyone who applied for National Honor Society: decision letters will be mailed out this week.
Leaps has changed operation days. Leaps will only be Monday-Thursday weekly.

A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Smoke detectors should be located on every floor of your home and near all places that you and your family sleep. Smoke detector batteries should be changed on a regular basis.
Students will be allowed to dress up for Halloween. Please see the following requirements and go over this with your students.
Daily dress code rules must be followed.Masks or facial coverings of any kind will not be permitted.
Props will not be permitted as part of a costume.
Cleats or spikes may not be worn.
No weapons, look alike weapons, spikes, chains, ropes, etc. may be brought to school. (see rule 3)
Make up, hair dye, head bands, hats, sunglasses, and wigs may be worn. (sunglasses must be removed during class)
Costumes must not prevent the student from full participation in class.
No fake blood/gore of any kind.
You must arrive at school already dressed up. Do not bring items to school to get ready.
Costumes that require fans or inflatable devices inside of them will be permitted on a case-by-case basis with prior approval.
No hoods are allowed at any time.
Costumes must not depict any violence. You may not dress up as a violent character.
Administration reserves the right to ask any student to change out of a questionable costume.

Senior Parents: FAFSA Night Cancelled:
Unfortunately, the FAFSA Night event scheduled for October 28th has been cancelled.
Here is what you need to know about FAFSA right now:• It is expected to open on December 1st.
• Early Grads: Go ahead and complete it. Create your FSA ID and submit your FAFSA.
• FAFSA is required for TN Promise, Lottery Scholarships, and other scholarships, grants, and financial aid.

Please be aware that for the testing day tomorrow, Wednesday, October 23rd, students will not be able to be checked out of school unless there is a doctor's note or emergency due to test security and a quiet learning environment. Remember, it is a regular school day for all students and all are expected to attend the entire day.
Friday, Oct. 25, is club picture day. If you sponsor a club, please attend (if possible) for the photo. Because of the pep rally, we will be taking photos during third period. If Junior Court misses lunch during class, they will need to go to a different lunch.

Science Bowl-- Students interested in participating on the THS Science Bowl team should stop by Mr. Reece's classroom (Room 3419) after school on Wednesday Oct 23 for a very brief informational meeting.

Underclassmen, faculty, staff, and administrative retake photos will be Sept. 25.
Invitations to join the National Beta Club were sent to qualifying juniors and seniors Sept. 1. Students with a 93 or above average were invited to join. If you joined last year, you are already a member and do not have to rejoin. If you have received an invitation but have extenuating circumstances regarding the payment of the $40 fees, let Ms. Silvers or Mrs. Sauceman know ASAP so that they can work with you on this. The due date for dues is September 29 and will not be accepted late, no exceptions. If you have not received an invitation and believe that you should have, please contact Ms. Silvers or Mrs. Sauceman in the library ASAP.
FCA meets in the choir room every Friday after school.
