The Tennessee High School Firecracker Squad is looking for new members for the 2021-2022 school year. This is an inclusive spirit squad that accepts boys and girls - no cheer experience necessary!  SENIOR QUOTES: What words best represent you?  Which words do you want to leave as your high school legacy?  The senior quote, which will be printed in Maroon & White's senior edition this May, is the perfect place to make your mark. Whether it be a funny inside joke, a snippet from a favorite author or a traditional message wishing everyone thanks and good luck, choose your words and share them here.  In order to be printed, your quotation must be 100 characters or less and be school appropriate.  ACT Boot Camp returns! Next Saturday, April 17 is the next ACT National test. From 4:30-6:30 PM Monday-Thursday, April 12-15, we offer a free ACT boot camp. Enter through DOOR 5 at the front of the school and proceed upstairs to the THS library. Bring your pencil, scrap paper, and CALCULATOR. This tutoring opportunity would cost you over $300 in the private sector, and THS hosts it for free!  Yehaw!  Yipppeeeee!

 NHS Seniors: NHS Stoles are white satin collars with the National Honor Society insignia embossed on the front.  You may purchase or borrow one.

Purchase: If you would like to purchase one to wear over your gown at graduation, please bring $22.50 (checks are payable to Tennessee High) to Mrs. Story (room 3424) or Mrs. Hartsoe (room 1214) by Friday, April 23rd.  If you are a Distance Learner, please bring your money in a sealed envelope with the label NHS to the main office.  When the stoles arrive, we will notify you.  In-person learners can pick them up in Mrs. Story’s room and Distance Learners can pick them up in the front office.

Borrow: If you prefer to borrow a stole, please email Mrs. Story (storym@btcs.org) ASAP and we will set one aside for you to wear at pictures on April 23rd.  We will collect this after graduation.

 We are excited about a new course offering for THS students. Students can now register for African American History as an elective course for the 2021-2022 school year.  Interested students should contact their counselor. A course description is available on our website.

 The TN High Counseling Office is hosting a VIRTUAL Junior Student and Parent Question-and-Answer Session with TSAC representative, Erika Adams, on Tuesday April 13th at 5:30 PM. Students and parents are to watch a recording of a presentation to learn more about paying for college. the college process, and other information pertaining to senior year and college PRIOR to the VIRTUAL Question-and-Answer session.  ETSU Upward Bound is currently taking applications for new 9th  and 10th grade students. Upward Bound is a program designed to help students succeed in high school and achieve their goal of going on to college. The program is free and Upward bound helps students determine what college is best for them. Students will receive  tutoring and advanced skill development geared toward college and career preparation, ACT test prep, scholarship information workshops and individual counseling sessions for financial aid. During the summers, students participate in a residential program on ETSU’s campus. Upon graduation from high school, the program provides tuition assistance, tutoring, books, and supplies for up to two summer classes at ETSU.   More info and the application can be found online at www.etsu.edu/ub

 Tennessee High School’s PTA NEEDS YOU! Our main source of funding comes from membership dues from parents and teachers. WHAT DO PTA DUES FUND? Membership dues help the PTA fund $1200 in annual scholarships for two seniors each year; host luncheons for teachers and staff; and help purchase special items for students as requested by staff.

 Please make sure that you have your parking lot stickers displayed properly in your vehicle.  All students who park on campus in either the Sr. Parking Lot or the Southside Parking Lot must have their vehicle registered in the office (see Ms. Alley in the business office for the required paperwork) and have the proper parking lot sticker displayed in the windshield of their vehicle.  Vehicles that are not registered with the school and do not display a LOT PARKING PASS are considered to be parked illegally and are subject to towing at the owners expense.  Only properly registered vehicles with the current 2020-21 Parking Lot Window Stickers will be allowed to park in campus parking lots.

 FCA meets on Fridays after school in the auditorium

 The Viking Motorcycle Club will meet Wednesday afternoons in Mr. Strickland’s room (3418) directly after school. All are welcome to join.

 

 A fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Know your emergency evacuation routes at school and at home. Don’t forget to identify a secondary evacuation route in case your primary route is not available.
