The advent of hybrid education at THS has a lot of students very confused. The main plan makes sense: Monday-Tuesday students with the last name A-L are in person, and Thursday-Friday accommodate the rest. However, Wednesdays seem to be some sort of grey area, so what exactly are we supposed to do on those days?
The consensus varies from teacher to teacher, but a constant throughout is that it is a “make-up” day of sorts. The teacher may give some small assignment without requiring their students to log onto Teams, and allow themselves and their students to get caught up on piled up work. However, the new attendance policy also throws a wrench in this system, as it requires students to log in everyday into teams to be counted present (if they are not in school of course).
According to Mrs. Kirk, “Live instruction is not required on Wednesdays, but students should be actively engaged in assignments posted on Canvas.” It seems the official policy is you do not have to log in, but make sure to check Canvas as “many teachers are using Wednesdays to test students” and they “are definitely not optional.”
