Who: Seniors who are associated with the manufactured housing industry (details provided below)

The Hart Sisters – Nursing Scholarship

Who: Seniors interested in pursuing a career in nursing who have a 3.5 GPA or higher

Additional Information:  This scholarship requires a 250-500 word essay describing your true intent to enter the nursing profession. Answer the following questions; What would this scholarship mean to you? Why have you chosen the nursing field? Include a copy of your resume listing extracurricular activities, leadership ability and community service. Flavorful Futures Scholarship

Valkyrie-Thor Theatre Arts Scholarship

Who: Seniors interested in pursuing teacher licensure for the content listed below.
Where: Pellissippi State Community College, Roane State Community College, University of Tennessee - Knoxville or Maryville College
Amount: $1,000 one time

Deadline: February 15th, 2019

Additional Information: This scholarship aims to assist students studying acting, costume design, lighting design, scenic design, directing, stage craft, theatre history, dramatic literature, or theatre studies for teacher licensure. Applications can be found at under the Sullivan County tab.

Elks Scholarships
There is also a Nursing Scholarship that the Elks Lodge will fund to a various number of students interested in going into the nursing field. Applications can be found on Applications should be printed out and returned to the local Elks Lodge #825, P.O. Box 315, Johnson City TN 37601. Deadline: January 15, 2019.
The Trade Scholarship is an innovative scholarship intended to help students that are often overlooked for financial aid. The Trade Scholarship is for students pursuing a trade or certificate program. Applications can be found on and must be submitted to your Local Lodge by February 2, 2019.


The practice SAT, the PSAT, will be given at THS on Wednesday, October 24th during first and second period in the wellness rooms. Any junior interested in taking this college entrance exam please bring $16.00 into the counseling office as soon as possible. The PSAT is the qualifying test that students must take in their junior year to enter the National Merit Scholarship Competitions for college scholarships that will be awarded in 2019. Although the test is aimed at students in the 11th grade, sophomores are encouraged to take it as practice for their junior year. To register please bring cash or a check made out to Tennessee High School into the counseling office as soon as possible. Applications for the Summer 2019 Tennessee Governor's Schools

Attention high achieving sophomore and junior students!  The 2019 Tennessee Governor’s School applications have been posted on the TN Department of Education website at

Please note that all completed Governor’s school of the Arts applications are due to your counselor by Oct 26th.   This gives counselors time to get your application turned in by the November 9th deadline.

The deadline for all other completed applications to be turned in to your counselor will be November 9th.  This gives your counselors time to have your applications turned in to the appropriate college by the December 1st deadline printed in your application.

Each student needs to print off the appropriate application from the Governor’s school website, complete the appropriate portions of the application, and meet with Mrs. Skeens immediately!!
