  • Want the opportunity to win a $25 gift card? How about $1000?  You should participate in this year's Eastman Black History Oratorical Contest. This is an annual regional competition for which students write and submit a 3-5 page essay discussing an acknowledged African-American STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and/or math) contributor. The deadline for submitting is November 18, 2019. Last year, SEVEN Tennessee High students made the top 15 and THREE of those were in the top 5.  We’d like for students who participate to share a copy of their essay with the library, and we will choose four school winners to receive gift cards from the library for their contributions. Eastman, of course, has their own prize system set up, which includes the top 15 essay writers being invited to attend a luncheon and the top five writers are given a monetary reward (ranging from $250-1000). Guidelines for the contest can be found here:  Even better--come by the library, and let us help you find sources for your paper. We have a plethora of information and two overly-helpful librarians!
  • Science Bowl Meeting Juniors and Seniors who are interested in participating in the science bowl should meet in Mr. Reece’s classroom during Viking Time on Tuesday, October 29.
