  • Tickets for the Haunted Tours will be on sale during all lunches next Thursday the 24th. Pre-sale tickets are $3.00. They will be $5.00 at the door. 

  • The first practice of the Wrestling Season will be on October 28.  We will meet at the Coach’s Office in Viking Hall after school on this date.  All students interested in wrestling will need to have a physical and the athletic paperwork turned in to Mrs. Feathers.  If you need the forms please see Mrs. Feathers in the Viking Hall Athlete Office.  All paperwork and a physical must be completed to participate in practice. 

  • ACT BOOT CAMP Monday - Thursday to train for the Saturday, October 26 ACT

    It’s okay if you’re late.  Come anyway.  We’re changing the time…5:30 – 7:30 pm ACT BOOT CAMP in room 2445, Wellness.

    Pumpkin bowling, Skeeball, Spider Ring Toss, Fishing/magnet/prize game, Bean Bag toss

  • Littlest Angel Child Care Center at Avoca Christian Church is looking for ONE volunteer per day to help with Avoca Elementary children’s homework in the after-school child care from 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm. You can earn volunteer hours.  You can volunteer only one day a week if you wish. Are you interested?  See Mrs. Sutherland in room 3414. 

  • Are you interested in a leadership role for the Rachel’s Challenge club (Friends of Rachel)? Fill out the form in the guidance office.  Deadline to turn it in:  Friday, October 24.

  • Homecoming 2019 is October 21-25.  Dress up!  Participate!  Care!  Show up! 

  • Beta Club Members have been added to the Canvas page.  New members should check to make sure they have been added so that they will not miss important announcements.

  • The Beta Club and NHS will hold their annual induction ceremony on November 12 at 7:00 pm in the auditorium.  Inductees should meet at 6:00 pm in the chorus room so that they can take pictures for the yearbook.  After the ceremony, students will report to the cafeteria for a snack provided by the PTA and to pick up certificates and t-shirts.  

  • Want the opportunity to win a $25 gift card? How about $1000?  You should participate in this year's Eastman Black History Oratorical Contest. This is an annual regional competition for which students write and submit a 3-5 page essay discussing an acknowledged African-American STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and/or math) contributor. The deadline for submitting is November 18, 2019. Last year, SEVEN Tennessee High students made the top 15 and THREE of those were in the top 5.  We’d like for students who participate to share a copy of their essay with the library, and we will choose four school winners to receive gift cards from the library for their contributions. Eastman, of course, has their own prize system set up, which includes the top 15 essay writers being invited to attend a luncheon and the top five writers are given a monetary reward (ranging from $250-1000). Guidelines for the contest can be found here: https://bit.ly/2VSgDjJ  Even better--come by the library, and let us help you find sources for your paper. We have a plethora of information and two overly-helpful librarians!
