Students, who are planning to participate in the filming of the Unsmokeable Kickoff Commercial, please return your release forms to Mrs. Phillips or Mrs. Moore by Monday, May 7, 2018. The filming date of the commercial has been moved to Tuesday, May 8, 2018. Please meet in Mrs. Phillips room (2114) after school on Tuesday to receive instructions for the filming.
  • College Signing Day will be Friday May 11th. We will be having a recognition ceremony for all seniors at 8:30 AM until 9:15 AM in the auditorium. All seniors will attend and the seniors that indicated which college they were attending on the list in the counseling office will be recognized. If you still would like to be recognized, please see your counselor ASAP!

  • Rising Juniors and Seniors: We are offering a brand new opportunity for you to earn college credit next fall! We are offering a Dual-Enrollment class with ETSU! This class is for students who are interested in pursuing a healthcare-related profession. The class is Medical Terminology and Healthcare Professions Exploration. Please see your counselor to sign-up for this class ASAP! You must have a minimum GPA of 3.2 and an ACT score of 19 on all areas. If you have not yet taken the ACT, you may use your pre-ACT scores.

  • Any student registered for peer tutoring, Work based learning, IT Nursing Clinical, Dual Enrollment or Leadership Challenge need to submit their applications asap if they want to have this class next year. If an application is not received your counselor will have to give an alternate class

  • Several Students have not turned in the Graduation Behavior Agreement. You will not be able to walk at graduation if you don't turn that paper in signed by you and your parents. Please get that taken care of before the end of the week.

  • Any students that wants to run CC next fall need to meet in Coach Lilly's room 2435 on Tuesday May 8th at 2:35. Please be prompt as summer workouts and other information will be provided at this meeting. Please attend if interested even if you are not sure you will run yet. All CC runners from last fall need to meet in Coach Lilly's room on Tuesday May 8th for about 5 mins.

  • SENIORS: You may be eligible to earn a Work Ethic Diploma seal which is placed on your permanent high school diploma just by earning 20 out of 40 possible points for things such as good attendance, GPA of 2.0 or higher, being drug free, completing CTE, Dual Credit or AP courses, in good standing for TN Promise, scoring a 3 or higher in all core subjects on the ACT WORKKEYS test, plus many more. The advantage? The seal serves as your ticket to a guaranteed job interview when partnering industries post a position in which you meet the qualifications. Did you catch that? A guaranteed interview for an open position in which you are qualified to apply. This means if your resume is similar to that of another qualified applicant, you as a Work Ethic Diploma holder will be given preference for an interview. How do I know if I qualify?   • There is an Anchor sign-up sheet in the main office for those who are interested in the club. It will be there until next Wednesday May 9th.

  • We are sold out of yearbooks.

  • The Mighty Viking Band is looking for prop managers and movers, rhythm and bass guitarists, keyboard players, experienced violinists, experienced sound technicians, new percussion members, new color guard members, and new brass and woodwind players for the 2018 marching band. If you like to travel, perform, or compete this is the place for you. If interested or you want to know more, please see Mr. Semones after school any day this week or next for question or details. For anyone interested in auditioning for the fall color guard, practices start Tuesday. Practices will be on Tuesday through Friday of this week from 3-6pm in the band room. Wear athletic clothing to the practices

  • Tennessee High Graduation will be May 19th at 10:00 AM.

  • Anyone interested in Bristol Youth Leadership can pick up an application in the guidance office. The deadline is May 11th.

  • Sports Physicals for the 2018-2019 school year will be given at Virginia High on Saturday, May 12th. The designated time for VMS & THS Students is 9:00am - 10:00am. Students are encouraged to arrive early. In order to receive a physical, students must have a TSSAA Physical Form with the front page completed and signed by a parent/guardian. TSSAA Physical Forms can be picked up in the THS Athletic Office, VMS Main Office or be downloaded at www.tssaa.org. Forms will also be available at Virginia High if needed. The cost is $10 cash. No checks will be accepted.

  • Class Night will take place Friday May 11th at 7 pm.

  • ACT important announcements for THS students, especially sophomores, juniors, & seniors:
    Sophomores, would you like to sign up for the summer ACT exams in order to establish a baseline ACT score for yourself??? You can then see which areas are high...and which areas need work! The sub-tests are English, math, reading, and science reasoning. Juniors and Seniors: This FRIDAY, MAY 4 is the deadline to sign up for the Saturday, June 9 ACT exam. You will visit act.org and sign up, pay $46 with a credit card, upload a photo, and show up for the summer test. If you like paying late fees, feel free to wait and add the $29.50 late fee...more money...UGH.
    There will be an ACT BOOT CAMP at THS from 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm June 4, 5, 6, & 7. It's usually located in the wellness rooms. This is a free prep camp, and you can invite your friends, too. Tell your parents. It's a valuable week, and you don't have to come every day.
    This June 4 - 7 boot camp runs as a Monday - Thursday sequence, but it's in the afternoon! Did you catch that? The time is changed to afternoon! The camp will NOT run in the evenings. ACT Boot Camp THS June 4 - 7 pm. See Mrs. Mariel Story for details. She's in charge!
    There is also a brand new July ACT offered by act.org; it's a Saturday, July 14 ACT test. Go ahead and sign up now at act.org, pay $46 with a credit card, upload a photo. Its deadline to sign up is June 15. Or, wait and pay $29.50 late fee. Ugh....

  • We are now offering a Homework Hotline that will be available Monday-Thursday from 4-8 PM. You can call (615) 298-6636, email: ask@homeworkhotline.info or chat: homeworkhotline.info. You can also schedule free consistent tutoring by calling 615-298-6636 or going to www.homeworkhotline.info/schedule-a-tutor and filling out the form. A brochure will be given to every student in their first period.

  • Seniors can order graduation supplies online at www.jostens.com or call 1-800-567-8367. Graduation will be here very soon so make sure you have made arrangements so you can participate.

  • It is very important to always be prepared as a fire can breakout with little or no warning. The more prepared you are, the safer you will be. Have a meeting location at school and at home that everyone will gather after a fire evacuation. A meeting location will help you quickly verify that everyone made it out safely.

  • The following procedures are very important to remember when leaving campus for any reason during school hours: Students must sign out and receive an early withdrawal slip at the main office before leaving campus. Any student who leaves campus without properly signing out will be considered as skipping and/or leaving campus without permission. A parent/ guardian must send a note or call the school to request an early withdrawal for their child. Students who sign out without parental/ guardian permission will be considered skipping and/or leaving campus without permission. Parental/ guardian permission after the fact will not be acceptable after a student has left campus. In order for a student sign out to be complete a student must receive an early withdrawal slip from the main office of attendance window at the front of the school. Students should read and acquaint themselves with the procedures for early withdrawal that are found on page 10 of the BTCS Tennessee High Handbook.

  • Students applying for a driving permit must have a Certificate of Compulsory Attendance. Students can request this form from the counseling office. Please allow three days to process the request. Completed forms should be picked up in the counseling office; these will not be faxed to the DMV. The Certificate of Compulsory Attendance is only valid for 30 days from the date of signature.

  • Please do not prop outside doors open at any time during regular school hours
