  • Senior whiffle ball action will resume during Viking time on Wednesday.  Team 7 Michelle Phillips and Story vs Team 8 Shaw and Strickland will play.
  • Track Team members who have completed their season need to turn in uniforms as soon as possible.  Please bring uniforms to Coach Irvin washed and in some type of bag with your name on the bag. 
  • Seniors taking the AP English Literature exam are encouraged to attend daily review sessions immediately after school in Mr. Davis' room, 3420. These tutorials will take place from Monday, April 29 through Tuesday, May 7. They will begin at 2:35 and end at 2:55.
  • Tennessee High School is recruiting members for the first ever Sparkle Effect team for the 2019-2020 school year. This is an all-inclusive team for any upcoming 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grader. We are looking for boys and girls to perform at 10-15 home sporting events from August to February. No prior cheer experience is required. If you are interested in joining, please pick up an application from Mrs. Vance (1156A) or Ms. Anderson (1159). Applications are due back by Tuesday, April 30th.   • Prom tickets will be on sale in the office area, directly in front of Mrs. Alley’s counter, every day this week before and after school.  Next week they will be on sale before and after school and during all lunches.  Please remember that if you are bringing a guest that is not a current Tennessee High Student you must fill out the Prom Guest Application Form.  You cannot purchase a ticket for your guest until they have been approved to attend.
  • Seniors in National Honor Society need to return their forms for stoles and money by May 1. Please see Mrs. Hartsoe or Mrs. Strong.
  • Jostens will be here on Thursday, May 2, during all three lunches to deliver class rings. 
  • Any rising sophomore, junior, or senior female student interested in joining Civinettes may now pick up an application in the office, Mrs. Bittinger’s room (3406), or Mrs. Kitzmiller’s room (1216). Completed applications and teacher recommendations are due to Mrs. Bittinger, Mrs. Kitzmiller, or Ms. Anderson by May 6. Please see a club sponsor for any questions.
  • We will have an extended first block on April 29th to accommodate EOC testing. Students enrolled in either first or fourth block English I or English II will report to their testing location by 7:30am. Students enrolled in either a second or a third block English I or English II class will eat first lunch and report to their testing locations by 11:18.
  • Seniors, please turn in your Graduation Behavior Agreements as soon as possible.  The deadline is Friday, May 3, and you will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony if that is not on file.
  • The Class of 2019 is cordially invited to attend the Sullivan County Baccalaureate Service, May 14, 7:00 p.m., at Sunnyside Baptist Church, 406 Cooks Valley Road, Kingsport, TN.  A brochure containing information concerning the Baccalaureate Service will be available in the Guidance Office. 
  • Seniors: if you believe you have had perfect attendance and would like to be recognized for it during senior Awards Day, please see Mrs. Slagle in the Counseling Office.
  • Anyone new wishing to join the fall marching band should see Mr. Semones as soon as possible for information. The band is seeking anyone with guitar, bass, string, percussion, or keyboard experience; however, the only real requirement is a great work ethic.
  • Sports Physicals for the 2019-2020 school year will be given at Virginia High on Saturday, May 11th.  The designated time for THS & VMS students is 8:00am - 9:00am.  To receive a physical, students must have a TSSAA Physical Form with the front page completed and signed by a parent/guardian.  TSSAA Physical Forms can be picked up in the THS Athletic Office, VMS Main Office or be downloaded at www.tssaa.org.  Forms will also be available at Virginia High if needed.  The cost is $10 cash.  No checks will be accepted.
  • Seniors! Don't forget to check the Counseling Office's website for information regarding scholarships and awards to help pay for college. The scholarship site is updated multiple times each week with new opportunities!
  • Several AP courses will have exam review sessions during Viking Time.  Please see the announcement posted on your homeroom Canvas page for more details.
  • Students, your laptop must be carried in your school-issued backpack. Students found carrying their device in other backpacks, will have their device confiscated.
  • The library now has 5 Wi-Fi hotspots for checkout.  These will provide free Wi-Fi to your electronic devices, which comes in handy if you don’t have Wi-Fi at home or need to work on your computer during a long car ride or even if you just want to spend the afternoon doing some homework in the park.  The checkout period is three school days.  Stop by the library, and see Ms. Hayes or Mrs. Sauceman if you are interested in checking one out or have questions.

  • Students please download the Viking Nation App and check in each morning for points to win free gifts.
  • ACT Prep Academy with Mrs. Sutherland --Meet in the THS Library lab after school Wednesdays from 3:00 – 4:00 p.m. No ACT Prep Academy during Mid-term Exams, Spring Break, or Final Exams.
  • Upcoming ACT test dates National Saturdays:  June 15, and July 13
  • First Priority meets every Wednesday morning in Wellness room 2447 at 7:00 a.m.  You’re invited to join us to follow the H.O.P.E. cycle. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 is the HELP week. We’d love to have your presence at 7:00!  First Priority will also begin meeting every Wednesday afternoon in the THS library lab room from 2:35 – 3:00 p.m. (or later).  This is a more relaxed, conversational time.  Some days we will linger and eat pizza.  All afternoons will STILL FOLLOW the cycle:  H.O.P.E.  We will start this after school on January 9, 2019.
