Prom Guest Applications are available in the Main Office and Guidance Office. The application must be signed by both the guest and the student and be turned back in to Mrs. Whitaker on or before April 18
th
if you are planning to bring someone to the prom that is not currently a Tennessee High School student.
The 2019 Talent Show will be held on Thursday, April 18
th
, at 6 P.M. in the auditorium.
Seniors, please turn in your Graduation Behavior Agreements as soon as possible. The deadline is Friday, May 3, and you will not be allowed to participate in the ceremony if that is not on file.
The Class of 2019 is cordially invited to attend the Sullivan County Baccalaureate Service, May 14, 7:00 p.m., at Sunnyside Baptist Church, 406 Cooks Valley Road, Kingsport, TN. A brochure containing information concerning the Baccalaureate Service will be available in the Guidance Office.
Seniors: if you believe you have had perfect attendance and would like to be recognized for it during senior Awards Day, please see Mrs. Slagle in the Counseling Office.
State Distinction Applications are due by April 19th. If you would like to be recognized for scholarships at Awards Day, those applications are due by April 26th. Both of these can be turned into Mrs. Slagle in the Counseling Office.
Anyone interested in joining the Tennessee High Percussion Section should come to the help sessions beginning on Thursday, April 18 and again on Thursday, April 25. These sessions will take place at the THS Band Room and will be open to anyone new interested in joining. Any musical experience is recommended but not required. Percussion placement will be held on May 13 from 3:30-5pm.
Anyone new wishing to join the fall marching band should see Mr. Semones as soon as possible for information. The band is seeking anyone with guitar, bass, string, percussion, or keyboard experience; however, the only real requirement is a great work ethic.
The senior class photo will be taken April 25 at 1:00. Ordering envelopes are available from senior homeroom teachers, the front desk, and guidance office. All photos must be pre-paid.
This Thursday, April 11, there will be a meeting in the auditorium during homeroom for anyone interested in being a cheerleader or part of a dance team at Tennessee High.
Bright, Everhardt, Hartsoe, and Greer’s homeroom will play senior whiffle ball, April 10
th
, during homeroom.
A flyer for the Summer Pick Along Camp at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum will be available in the front office for 9
th
and 10
th
graders. The beginner camps will be held June 17-21 and July 8-12. The intermediate camp will be July 15-19. Half day sessions are $125.00 for museum members and $175.00 for non-museum members. The full day sessions are $175.00 for museum members and $225.00 for non-museum members.
THS After Prom Inc. is offering service hours to students who need them. We need help setting up, working, & breaking down our fundraiser garage sale at the Old Coke building on West State St. Help is needed today, tomorrow, Friday, Saturday, & Monday.
All AP students will be precoding for their upcoming AP exams on Thursday, April 11
th
at 7:30 in the THS cafeteria. This is next Thursday. Please report to first period for attendance and then report to the cafeteria immediately after that. Please bring a regular pencil.
Students who are taking the SAT need to report to room 3425 by 7:30 am. Please leave all bags, cell phones, electronic devices, etc., either in cars or in the Counseling Office’s small conference room before reporting for testing.
The library will be closed Monday, April 8
th
, both before and after school.
The Learning Lab will be closed 1st through 4th periods on Tuesday, April 9 for the Biology Field Test. It will be open for 5th period.
Sports Physicals for the 2019-2020 school year will be given at Virginia High on Saturday, May 11th. The designated time for THS & VMS students is 8:00am - 9:00am. To receive a physical, students must have a TSSAA Physical Form with the front page completed and signed by a parent/guardian. TSSAA Physical Forms can be picked up in the THS Athletic Office, VMS Main Office or be downloaded at
www.tssaa.org.
Forms will also be available at Virginia High if needed. The cost is $10 cash. No checks will be accepted.
Anyone interested in trying out for the Boy’s Golf Team please sign up in the Driver Education Simulator Room (2426) by Friday, April 12th.
Seniors! Don't forget to check the Counseling Office's website for information regarding scholarships and awards to help pay for college. The scholarship site is updated multiple times each week with new opportunities!
Interact will begin selling Easter Candy-Gram's during all three lunches starting Monday, April 8th. Easter eggs filled with candy are only a dollar and will be delivered to the recipient of your choice on Friday, April 12th. Interact members: please check your school email for more information.
Attention Seniors! Nominations for the Scheuer Outstanding Attitude Award are now being collected by Mrs. Slagle. In order to be nominated for this $1,000 award you must be nominated by a teacher, coach, employer or other community member! Nominations are due by April 22nd! Please see Mrs. Slagle if you have questions!
Anyone interested in participating in color guard next semester should come to the practice sessions next week. The sessions will take place in the band room next Monday through Friday from 3-6pm. For more information or questions, please visit Mr. Semones in the band room.
Tryouts for the Tennessee High School Talent Show will be held on Tuesday, April 9
th
after school in the chorus room. If singing, students MUST bring their karaoke track to tryouts with
no voices
on the track. Bring your labeled cd and a print out of your song lyrics with you to tryouts. Each person or group must turn in a completed application by Monday, April 8

Students, your laptop must be carried in your school-issued backpack. Students found carrying their device in other backpacks, will have their device confiscated.
The library now has 5 Wi-Fi hotspots for checkout in the library. These will provide free Wi-Fi to your electronic devices, which comes in handy if you don’t have Wi-Fi at home or need to work on your computer during a long car ride or even if you just want to spend the afternoon doing some homework in the park. The checkout period is three school days. Stop by the library, and see Ms. Hayes or Mrs. Sauceman if you are interested in checking one out or have questions.

will also begin meeting every Wednesday afternoon in the THS library lab room from 2:35 – 3:00 p.m. (or later). This is a more relaxed, conversational time. Some days we will linger and eat pizza. All afternoons will STILL FOLLOW the cycle: H.O.P.E. We will start this after school on January 9, 2019.
