Frankie Nunn
Head Coach

I was born and raised in Bristol, Virginia. I attended Virginia High School from 1977-1981. I was part of the Cross Country and Track teams. In Cross Country I was all-conference and all-region 4 years. I was district, region and Virginia state champion for 3 years. I was selected as a high school All-American three years. I also held the course record at Sugar Hollow Park for 21 years at 14:40. I also held the state meet course record until it was moved to a new sight at 15:21. I was a Kinney National (Footlocker) meet qualifier my junior and senior years. I finished 28th as a junior and 13th as a senior with a time of 15:33.

In track I was all district, region and state four years. My personal records in track were 880 yards 2:00, mile 4:18, 2-mile 9:12. I am still a part of the 4X880 relay team school record of 8:12.

I attended Butler County Community college for one year where I ran Cross Country and Track. I was all-conference, all-region and all-American in Cross Country. My personal records were 4-miles 19:56, and 5-miles 25:07 which I ran at the national meet.

In Track I was all-conference and all-region in indoor track. I was all-conference in outdoor track.

I started coaching Cross Country and Track with Coach Carver at Vance Middle school in 2002. I started coaching Cross Country at Tennessee High School in 2004.

I am currently the HVACR Technician for Bristol Tennessee City Schools and have been the Tennessee High Head Cross Country coach since 2004, as well as the Vance Middle School Head Track coach since 2009.


Carla Lilly
Assistant Coach

I was born and raised in Bristol, Virginia. I graduated from John S. Battle High School in 1994. During my high school career, I was a four time-state qualifier in the Cross-Country AA state meet, finishing in the top 25 three times. I competed in many track events, including the 200, 400, 4x4, 800, 4x800, 1600, 3200, Long Jump, and High Jump. I qualified for state my freshman through junior years in the 3200 meter run. Then, I changed gears and qualified for state my senior year in the 200 meter dash.

I went to Lincoln Memorial University on a cross-country scholarship where I led the team for three years. I graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Mathematics and an ABA in Business Administration. I graduated with my Masters Plus 30 in Educational Leadership from Union College.

In 2001, I was the head coach at John S. Battle High School where I coached three years in cross-country and two years in track. In 200 4, I started teaching and coaching at Tennessee High School. I coached CC and Track for 9 years. I am currently the Robotics coach and also the assistant cross-country.

When I am not teaching or coaching, I am probably out running or biking or maybe snowboarding, wakeboarding, hiking, backpacking, or any number of other outdoor activities.
